These football injuries are getting out of hand.

On the serious side, I wonder how soccer and rugby injuries compare with American football injuries. Our players are loaded with "safety" gear, yet they suffer serious injuries, including to the brain.
I have wondered the same thing. If football players didn’t wear the protective gear, they might be more careful about their hits.

Somehow, I doubt that protective american football gear will help with the gunshot injuries. If anyone thinks football is non directly akin to the Roman Gladiators, think again.

We have a radio station here that announces, "The Sports Celebrity Arrest of the Day".
Several years ago someone did an interesting study. With lots of protective gear the players attitude became "It won't happen to me." With less such gear they were more careful.
I've always thought that Helmets encourage contact.
Playing Rugby, no helmets and very few if any head injuries. When it hurts you don't do it
