Maybe I've been looking at MAGA all wrong in regards to taxes... lol

If we return to Ike's tax rate perhaps all the issues would be fixed... IF Congress could get its act together and legislate working solutions based on political compromise instead of the 'righteous purity of religious absolutism' where compromise is unacceptable.

I find it unacceptable to owe so much in taxes. Two retired teachers shouldn't pay more in taxes than Amazon.

I think that's a good piece of the problem. The other is that multi-billion dollar corporations are paying no taxes at all. How the hell did Amazon pay zero taxes?
There are so many issues to address but I do agree with your suggestion because we need to start somewhere.

The issue is not a lack of tax revenue, its a spending issue.

It's Gawd awful for small, small businesses. I was required to collect a 10% 'goods and services tax' for my work that I could later offset against GST that my business paid. Paperwork Churn Hell.

... and lower income people spend a higher percentage of their money just just getting by.

Nobody paid those effective tax rates, they had loopholes that you could drive trains through. Libs, always demanding other peoples money and earnings while expecting to pay none themselves, case in point, Bernie took his book income through a corp specifically for tax avoidance... You people just are plain wrong. If you were to talk about a fair tax system that taxed everyone and did not have thousands of pages of write offs you may get support in raising taxes but as long as you want to raise taxes in the corrupt system we have you will always find resistance.

I'm on board with that if there are no maximums for earned income. 10% for the guy making minimum wage and 10% for the guy making a billion dollars a year.

Doesn't AOC advocate for a 70% tax rate after the first $10 million of taxable income?

Arts and Fwankie ... y’all need to read several books.

Back where the air is thick, the historically literate know that:

1-When rates were that high, pretty much everything beyond taking a dump on a San Francisco sidewalk was deductible ... so the rates weren’t really near that high in the net taxes figure.

2-People tolerated a bit higher tax to Uncle Sam out of patriotism because it was promised to be used to pay off the war debt.

3-The national debt went up ... a LOT!

4-We survived it economically because Europe, Asia and Africa had been devastated by WWII while the US homeland was untouched.

5-By 1960 the world was fast rebuilding and the US was wobbly and losing jobs manufacturing jobs to Germany.

6-JFK got a tax cut passed and the economy took off. Revenue increased greatly and the gubmint spent it all ... plus some.

7-After several years, taxes rose while the world was modernizing and we were losing manufacturing jobs to Japan.

8-Reagan got a tax cut and the economy took off. Revenue increased greatly and the gubmint spent it all ... plus some.

8-After a few years taxes went up while the world moved into the 21st century and we were losing manufacturing jobs to Mexico.

9-Bush got a tax cut passes and the economy took off. Revenue increased greatly and the gubmint spent it all ... plus some.

10-Trump got a tax cut passed and the economy took off.

11-Revenue increased greatly and the gubmint spent it all ... plus some.

12-A high income tax rate is the most effective firewall available to the very rich as it will ... as Vladimir Ulyanov so eloquently explained ... would grind the bones of the entrepreneurs between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

You two both need to realize that Marxism/F*****m/C*******m/Socialism/Corporatism is a truly evil ideology ... and they all rely on the big lies.

Your hearts may well be on the right place, but the ideology you embrace eventually ... left unchecked ... ends up with camps.

Freedom ... political, economic, spiritual ... is the greatest state of existence. I don’t know why y’all fear it.

Where does the money come from to pay corporate income taxes?

MAGA = Make America Great Again, it does not mean Make America 1960 again.

You didn't pay even remotely close to what Amazon paid in taxes. You'd think a school teacher would understand math and fairly basic accounting. What did you teach, G****r Studies?
