This picture almost looked like glowing coals with flames shooting up.
Stunning work! I read your comment in rmalarz's exposure topic. Though you may be a novice with "settings," you obviously already understood the power of light and shadows, as well as beautiful lines - assuming it's your photo
Shot in 2017?
If you haven't had a chance yet, scroll down to "all sections" at the bottom of this page to find other UHH areas. Photo Gallery is huge and only about 1/3 of daily topics are in the emailed digest. You might find some of the small, volunteer-moderated sections better for feedback and learning.
That would be correct on the whole exposure topic. To be totally honest this was a very lucky shot because I have really struggled with the whole exposure thing up until his article. I clicked off a whole lot of over and under exposed shots and this one just fell in the right spot. Since then I have really been on the upswing and I can get the exposure of my pictures much quicker and with a lot less trial and error. Now I understand what happened to this picture that made it come out decent. The really good news is that I could reproduce it if I needed to. Before I could not. I'll try to post some of the pictures I have taken since then to get more of the helpful comments that everyone is so willing to share. Now I'm trying to learn how to compose. Thanks for your supportive comments. It has really helped to view everyone else's pictures to see how, why and what they have done.
Thanks for the tip on the "All Sections". I didn't realize there where all those other sections.
