Jerry is right, as is Architect. We are now worried that there is an epidemic of about 400 cases of measles in the US. In the '50s and '60s, there would probably be that many in *one* small town or large regional or metropolitan high school. The vaccines have brought measles, chicken pox, mumps, and polio - all under control, and almost to the point of being wiped out - at least in the US. They are still killers in some areas, but thankfully not here.

Yet.

speaking of autism , when i was a kid in the 50 / 60s , never seen or heard of autism , now , it is common .what is going on , are our genes deteriorating or ?? .

Again, off point here. This came from nowhere regarding this thread. Except maybe that parents who don't allow their kids to be vaccinated are ignorant. Autism is a disorder. Just because you never heard of something does not mean that it does not exist or a valid condition. And later in this thread someone else takes you up and says this is the same as ADD. Also wrong. Autism is also known as ASD. And ADD has been officially renamed ADHD. And based on your observation, if it didn't exist when you were a kid; it couldn't exist now.
Genes don't deteriorate. Over time we learn more and more about them and how they can be discected and explored to discover new treatments and the ability to prevent conditions that are certainly unwanted. The gene for dyslexia was only discovered in the early part of this century. Maybe you were referring to your jeans.

ADD was not a qualifier for welfare so they broadened autism to cover it so people could get welfare.
That is why there is so much "autism" now.
And yes vaccinations are being blamed for causing autism for the purposes of enrichment through frivolous lawsuits.

Just because you say something does not make it a fact. You talk about ADD not being recognized for Welfare (referring to the original incorrect post about Autism and ADD) back in the 50s and 60s. Medicare and Medicaid did not become law until 1965.
Private insurance was the 'law' up until then. The only similarity between Autism and ADD (ADHD) is the 'repetitive' symptom. Otherwise, they have never been treated or considered for treatment as one condition. The history of ADD-ADHD is out there if you have any interest. Autism has also been refined and expanded as medical science better understands symptoms, causes, and treatment.
You actually give no credit for these advances and blame the increase in diagnoses to scammers. You need to separate the real from the unreal. More people are diagnosed with these disorders because medical science is better equipped to recognize them. There will always be scammers out there claiming one thing or another in order to improperly enrich themselves. If you are so incensed about this, then lay the blame where it belongs. There are too many unethical lawyers who see the opportunity to bring these lawsuits and are never sanctioned for their actions-- even though the law exists for this. Why, because Tort reform will never take place as long Congress views the legal profession as inviolate.
So, to make this long tirade longer....
Target your dissatisfaction where it belongs..and do not throw those who genuinely suffer under the bus for nefarious reasons. And it always helps to know your facts..even if your gut tells you differently. Lastly, Welfare is not the same as public medical coverage for children.

I was born before the measles vaccine was discovered. I also never got the measles, even though my nurse mother made me sit next to my sister who did get the measles. Now, I am a 70 year old never vaccinated non measles person who's doctor said not to worry. Well, he is younger and was vaccinated.

While my opinions concerning illegal immigration might be similar to your's; your comment here does not help convince others who may have different views. Your statement is totally incorrect. The outbreak was traced to a family, American citizens, that traveled to Israel, and one unvaccinated child returned infected. This happened October 2018. This is not an issue of immigration. It is a genuine health emergency created by those who choose not to follow sane protocols to protect themselves, their children, and their neighbors.
Your incorrect statement only will reinforce criticism of your views and opinions; and those who have similar views.
