Still new to this, have had my dslr for a little over a year but for the last 8 months I have concentrated solely on being a caregiver for my husband who suffered a severe stroke, has had cerebral by pass, back surgery, three other back procedures and due for more back surgery next week (kyphoplasty....2 fractured vertebrae)....at any rate, trying to get the camera out and start over.....saw a challenge here...."wide open" and took a shot of our azalea, definitely not the greatest but I am just trying to figure out how to post a photo......the help tab indicates there will b a browse button which I don't see in the challenge section. I just notice a "choose file" below here so I will attempt loading something but how do I get things loaded in specific areas? Thanks in advance for any help

Marcia, with the challenges you are facing, photography is a great hobby. You can fit it into small time increments as they are available, indoors or outside. You own azaleas are a good example of the availability of subjects.

When you create a new topic there is a drop down menu that lets you pick the section where your post will appear. The save original check box will provide a link under the picture the so it can be downloaded and enjoyed at a larger size.

I suspect the browse reference is to find the photo you want to attach. After you click choose file, you can browse to find your photo.

Very nice start, Marcia! Some of the experts will discuss your focal points on the blossom.

This looks like a great advertisement for photo stacking apps. That is where multiple images are taken each with a slightly different focus plane from closest to furthest portion of the object. Then they are combined with only that portion of each that is in focus used to make the final composite.

Photo was taken at f3.2 making the DOF very narrow. The higher the f number the wider the DOF, try various setting.

Nice start. I agree, a more narrow aperture would have helped some.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, Bultaco, but the OP stated she wanted to try shooting "wide open," which would be to use the lowest f number. There was a challenge on here specifically using this technique to showcase narrow focus, bokeh, etc.

You can find that challenge here: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-588594-1.html
