The color checker passport is a set of targets for white balance and color correction. The white balance target is very effective, lightroom seems to agree with the target. The main target gives known reference colors to make a dcp (digital camera profile) that ensures colors are as true as possible. The color recorded is effected by the bayer sensor not totally rejecting the frequencies of light outside of the channel e.g blue channel will receive some green and red light. The light source may not be a continuous spectrum which also messes with the colors. The end result is a camera neutral image in this case.
