Click on "Carry on baggage on United Express Flights." Again, depends on the individual carrier and aircraft used.

Then you and I fly out of different airports, because at the 3 that I've used since last fall, including McCarran in Vegas, all the carriers have the same size carry on limits. I asked two of the carriers and was told that the FAA changed the rules.

I do not think there are three airports where you could have flown on all carriers. There are still a lot of small and regional carriers. In addition there are varying aircraft within airlines and some have more restrictive size limits. It does not sound like you have enough flight experience under your belt to make this kind of general statement.

I end up on American Airlines a lot. And for some connecting flights booked through them I end up on a partner airline that has tighter restrictions. I seem to recall there is a disclaimer somewhere in the booking process or in the luggage limit info that says some flights may have tighter restrictions. But for a good idea, maybe we should look at the largest North American airline to see what they do. Let me Google that.....
....
Oh, look! It's American Airlines! Guess you should really check the restrictions when you book your flight.

No, I didn't fly on all carriers from all 3 airports, and I usually don't get pissy, or try to pick nits while chatting about topics as you apparently do. There is one max size for carry ons, for all carriers. A little common sense tells us that if flying on a smaller aircraft the size limit will be different, and if small enough, all luggage will have to be checked. The main point of my comment is that for all carriers there is now the same maximum size for carry ons. In the past the carriers set their own max size, now the FAA has done it for them.

Actually you are getting pissy. Are you implying that the OP lacks common sense? The maximum size established by the FAA is not the question, so your common sense "main point" was stupid and misleading if you had been following the thread. Pick nits is your specialty.

Okay folks. We share a common interest. We should share our experiences and learn to be better photographers. We should not be mean or petty with each other. We should be nice to each other.

If you don't like the dialogue, feel free to ignore...those who blow smoke and post without reading prior posts often expose themselves to criticism.

A big old Bronx cheer 'specially for you!

Those who refuse to deal with facts love passing on opinions that may or may not be accurate.

"one max size for carry ons" does not translate to "one max size allowable on all airplanes" which is what you are indicating. A lot, AS IN A WHOLE LOT, of flights have more restrictive carry on limits. Your real max carry on is equal to the maximum allowable size on the flight in your itinerary with the most restrictive limit.
