After reading all these replies I came to the conclusion that P is the very best camera setting to use...if you use it...and you like it...and you are happy with the results. It's YOUR camera, YOUR photos, and you only have to make YOU happy. It makes me happy to use aperture priority and f8. I don't always use a tripod but when I do, I get good results...sorry Dos Equis.

I may use my PnS and Bridge on Program, and my SmartPhone on a Semi-Automatic Program mode. But I shoot my several DSLRs on Av (AP) or Manual most of the time, occasionally Tv (SP) for action. And always use manual ISO. I have been experimenting a little with other modes on my wife's Fujifilm X100T camera. Thus far we have both found the Fuji very confusing and thus may not keep it.
My Pentax KP produces good images at ISO 12800 or higher, so much of the time I use TAv mode - I select shutter speed and aperture I want, and it sets ISO that makes it work.
Auto, P, M, A or T modes are available on most cameras. The correct or best mode is the one YOU enjoy working with, regardless of the mode I prefer working with.
Good answer. Grandpa Ron!
