Right now the A9 is $1000 off and IMHO the best camera for the money on the planet, especially with the latest firmware updates. I have owned the A6500, A7RII, A7RIII, A7III and A9. The A9 is a whole different level of performance. If you can afford it, the A9 is the best choice you can make IMHO. ( a longtime pro shooter)

My main camera and best I have had the pleasure of using is a RX10M4. I have had my eye on either an A9 or A7111. The Rx10M4 from what I understand is a m111 WITH AN a9 sensor. Auto focus is damn quick on both. So any advantage to stepping up or laterally with the change? I know the price difference is heafty but is it worth it? For what it matters I do have 2 of the RX10`s. So thoughts.....is the A9 or A7 that much better with IQ and such. Not ready to jump and I realize the sony lenses are pricey. This will be a slow move. Any thoughts. This would be my last camera. I shoot mainly wildlife. Just if you get a moment throw me a thought. Thank you

I presume you are aware that the A9 and A7III are full frame cameras and the RX10IV has a much smaller 1" sensor: so it does not have the A9 sensor, it has the A9 processor. I own an A9 and an A7III and would only recommend the A9 if you really do need the incredibly fast AF it offers. Otherwise, the A7III is a brilliant general purpose camera. I use mine for macro work and my A9 for birds and insects in flight.

I want to thank everyone....I will sell one of my 2 RX10M4`s when the time comes. They seem to have lost little of their value having a mint one in the closet. No decisions of what of the a series to replace it with.... one thing I have researched is the lenses...I do not see anything that would have the reach I need for birding and water sports. I have yet to download the menu settings but question....does it have a clearimage setting ? Sets me up with 1200mm with very little or no noise. Anyway I want to thank you all. Your experience is invalueable….I will make a move in July...Thank s again......H.....Just to add one big plus is the burst speed.....finding it invaluable with birds and windsurfers/kite sailors....If I am not wrong the rx10m4 has the A9 system

Earlier today I watched a new UTube video by Jason Lanier who uses Sony. He does a great job in explaining all 3 Sony full frame cameras and what each is used for, the advantages and disadvantages. A9/A7riii and the A7iii. I suggest you watch this video. Sorry not good in downloading the link.

Sorry ,but no other camera has the exact same processor as the A9, its exclusive stacked sensor has an INTEGRATED processor (built in the sensor) as well as the normal camera processor. That is partly what gives it such fast sensor readout. Other Sony cameras like the A6400 have processors based on the A9 processor, but none has the exact same processor, not even the excellent RX10IV.

Although you and I have our differences williams, I will tell you I follow Lanier and enjoy his cinematic work. He has his quirks and idiosyncrasies but I think he's a great image maker and story teller. I've learned my share from his videos with HSS and artificial light.

I have the a7iii and 5 lenses. I originally bought it with the 24-70/4 lens but quickly realized that I wanted more reach. I sold that lens and bought 2 used lenses, a 24-105/4 and a 70-200/4. I also own one G-master lens (16-35/2.8), which I love, and 2 primes (35 & 55). For wildlife, you will need the 100-400 lens.

I just finished reading a book about my camera by David Busch. Here’s a quote from his book, “In putting together the a7iii, Sony has combined many of the best features of its a9 flagship camera and super high resolution a7Riii. “ It is an amazing camera and now that I understand it better, it will be my go-to camera for most situations.

The best thing I like is the ability to see how your adjustments affect your picture LIVE on either the LCD or in the viewfinder. Also, auto/focus is superb as is the high speed continuous frame rates. Love the 5/point image stabilization and eye focus, too.

Hope this helps.
