Is this a face only a mother could love? She is not like the others in the hive, Never seen one like this. This post doesnt look as good as on my screen, it looks like an owl face.

THANK YOU and this is YOUR first image that I have trimmed, apologies if you don't like it.
Dont mind at all, i like it. Did you do any sharpening? or just by cropping it made it look sharper?

This might make you smile but I 'unsharpened' it, then as you say cropped and very slightly straightened it.
I did try to sharpen it but did not like what I achieved. (over sharpening is bad)
This forum CAN be a nice place where some folks will listen to observations that others make and by crikey it is so nice to see such EXCELLENT results.
If I wasn't house-bound, guess what I would now be doing even though it is just 3-40am :)
How lethal are those wasps and will the bees gang up on them?
First question is why are you up at 3:40 in the morning? and second, the wasps are hunting the bees, they are trying to eat the bees! I believe it lands there to try and catch one. I guess if it did get in the hive, the ladies of the house would gang up on him!

Pain rules sadly and I cannot sleep :)
I once saw a documentary about bees and their hives. It showed a number of wasps getting into a hive and the huge furore that took place as bees ganged up on these murderers.

Wow tayco! What a huge improvement! Especially the first one with regards to what we discussed about the grouping of comers and goers. I like the shutter speed you used as I like the bodies sharp and the wings showing motion but that is a personal preference. The last is nice as well. The others, as you mentioned, lack focus but the concept of showing the gals going about their work.
Let me ask a question; How do the bees make you feel -- how do you think of them?

Thank you for looking and your comments. I know there is definetly room for improvement, but a big difference from the first shots. The weather is not cooperating, but i will attempt more before they slow down for the fall.
I have to say it was a little unerving sitting in their flight path, but they went about their business. They are wonderful to watch, and more wonderful to anticipate the rewards!! (honey)

Tayco, I was watching a bunch of bees working over some ivy today. It didn't look like they were gathering nectar. It kind of looked like they were collecting pollen. Could that be that case? If so what do they use it for? There were a lot of them and hard at work.
