Chris you may not admit it but there are those on the Left who definitely want to restrict the freedoms Americans have now. The first Amendment is under attack regarding freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The second Amendment is under attack as well. Because of red f**g laws in some states where firearms can be confiscated the fourth Amendment is also under attack. Perhaps you should take a look into some of these attacks and decide if this is what you want in a free America.

I don't recall anyone saying the Right is never wrong.

I'm not aware that Liberals are attacking freedom of speech or freedom of religion.
You are, AFAIK, free to pray anywhere you want...just not out loud in schools....and say anything you want...within the already established guidelines...like not yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, unless there is a fire.

As far as the 2nd amendment, IMHO, Liberals mostly want to get guns out of the hands of "crazy" people & prevent mass shooting.
For the life of me, I can't understand why conservatives don't also want this.

Liberal:
Support the separation of church and state. The Bill of Rights implies a separation of church and state. Religious expression has no place in government. The two should be completely separate. Government should not support religious expression in any way. All reference to God in public and government spaces should be removed (eg., the Ten Commandments should not be displayed in Federal buildings). Religious expression has no place in government.

Conservative:
The phrase “separation of church and state” is not in the Constitution. The First Amendment to the Constitution states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” This prevents the government from establishing a national church/denomination. However, it does not prohibit God from being acknowledged in schools and government buildings. Symbols of Christian heritage should not be removed from public and government spaces (eg., the Ten Commandments should continue to be displayed in Federal buildings). Government should not interfere with religion and religious freedom.

Gun Control

Liberal:
The Second Amendment does not give citizens the right to keep and bear arms, but only allows for the state to keep a m*****a (National Guard). Individuals do not need guns for protection; it is the role of local and federal government to protect the people through law enforcement agencies and the military. Additional gun control laws are necessary to stop gun violence and limit the ability of criminals to obtain guns. More guns mean more violence.

Conservative:
The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to keep and bear arms. Individuals have the right to defend themselves. There are too many gun control laws – additional laws will not lower gun crime rates. What is needed is enforcement of current laws. Gun control laws do not prevent criminals from obtaining guns. More guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens mean less crime.

Crazy people have the same rights as the rest of us and due process is required prior to prevent them from possessing a firearm.

Chris Senator Diane Feinstein is already on record as saying if she could get rid of every firearm in America she would do it. With crimes involving firearms at a low of less than 3% and I am being very conservative in my thinking there is absolutely no reason to take firearms away from honest citizens. As far as insane people having firearms, every gun owner I know and also the NRA totally agree with you. But the Left is basically taking firearms away from honest citizens to achieve that goal. An old saying is that to combat rape an honest citizen should cut his penis off. That is the same analogy as taking guns from honest citizens. Consider, there is not one law on the books today that has ever stopped a criminal or crazy person from robbing, k*****g, raping or committing a specified crime. Please give me one if you can. Everyone on the planet would be grateful. The Left wants to continue passing laws to stop gun crimes knowing that there are already over 25,000 gun laws on the books. Not one of them has ever stopped a crime.

Since HIPAA regulations do not allow patient mental health history to be given out a person's mental health history is not given out on a normal DOJ/NCIC check. Even the Left's h**ed NRA has addressed this problem to no avail. Believe me, the NRA does not want crazy people to have firearms either.

As for the First Amendment issues, many on the Left are now calling Free Speech H**e speech and do not allow H**e Speech on some college campuses even though students have asked for Conservative speakers and want to hear what they have to say. Left Wing demonstrators protest or threaten violence toward Conservative speakers so the college tells the students NO. So much for the First Amendment regarding free speech, huh?

As for the attack on the other part of the First Amendment, Freedom of Religion, some schools do not allow prayer in school even though the students ask for it. I am sure you know that prior to sporting events in schools there used to be a prayer or at least a moment of silence for prayer. Not anymore. Coaches who have asked for prayer have been terminated. At least one coach who prayed before and after the game, on his own, was terminated. You might have noticed that many schools, too many, are hosting Muslim inspired talks to students on the virtues of being Muslim. The students are sometimes dressed in Muslim attire, are asked to pray to Allah and so on. The same indoctrination is not given for other religions, only Muslim. If you honestly do not see that as a problem here in America then you are not who I think you are.

I don't have "the answer", but it seems liek "we're" not really trying to come up with one either.
If it were "easy" we would have done it by now.

Prayer in school....you can still pray in school....just don't pray out loud.
Wasn't aware of the "Muslim inspired talks in schools". I don't have kids, so was never really "on my radar".

I DO think it would be good for kids to learn about a whole range of religions, same as they learn about different countries (geography).
But, that's just me.

Chris I agree with you. But that is not happening. There is no learning about different Protestant religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Mormon and so on, just Muslim.
