Nik Software Not Working

My Nik Software is no longer working in my Elements 14 program. It started today. Have the new owners disabled the software (downloaded from Google when it was free) so that I will have to buy it from them?

Uninstall previous version. Reboot, install either one of the free unsupported suites originally offered by Google.

Installer for Windows [430 MB] http://dl.google.com/edgedl/photos/nikcollection-full-1.2.11.exe
Installer for Mac [590 MB]: http://dl.google.com/edgedl/photos/nikcollection-full-1.2.11.dmg

If I were you, I'd archive the installation exe if these links become unavailable in the future. I have it installed on more than one computer. Mine continues to work without issue.

Thank you, Haydon. I did as you suggested. I downloaded; I deleted the version I originally downloaded (same version!); I restarted my laptop; I installed the "new" version; I checked it out; it's working again! Thanks!

Did you download and install the DXO version? If so, the answer is yes, they uninstalled your original version. If you have no intention of buying the DXO version uninstall it and reinstall you're original version. I'm hoping that you saved and backed up the original install program, as you should with any downloaded software. Unfortunately many people fail to do so.

Uninstall previous version. Reboot, install either... (show quote)

I have spent some time setting up a new computer and had Nik Collection on the old machine, which I will continue to use. I installed LR and PS on the new machine and then copied the NiK suite over to the new machine. When I tried the installer, it could see the PS program, but did not see LR. Very strange as I have the same version of LR on both machines.

Solution: I went to DxO and re-downloaded the unsupported free version. It came with the dmg install app of course. Which if you are not careful will be deleted. I made sure to save that file in the suite folder. First thing that happens when you open it is an offer to upgrade to the supported version for a price. Until I hear they have made significant improvements that will not happen.

I did something similar with On1. I don't use it much except for the Resize package, which I think works pretty well.

Good luck.
