Where is the St Augustine Zoo?
I have shopped and enjoyed sight seeing and eating at restaurants and stayed on the beach, but never encountered the Zoo. Where is it located?

St. Augustine Alligator Farm is a Zoological Garden. He was in a dark cage with other birds, quite a distance back, very inaccessible. I worked quite a while trying to get the shot through the screen of the pen. Waiting till he ventured into a shaft of sunlight I shot him with fill flash.
Thanks all!

They belong to the family Thraupidae (tanagers). North American cardinals belong to the family Cardinalidae.

I see that bird all over Hawaii. You walk outside the house and see that bird. They are brown when they are young, and turn red when adults.

Yes, they are all over Hawaii. The red on the head seems to vary a great deal from a brilliant red to a dark orange.

I read that they are South American cardinals, which jibes with what others are saying.

Can't help with identifying, but certainly a beautiful creature, captured beautifully in your photo.
