This is an opportunity to shift focus from faces to another expressive part of the body: the hands!
Of course, people use their hands for all kinds of activities, in the kitchen, the garden, the computer keyboard, the I-phone, playing with the kids, steering the car, flying a plane, grooming the pets, washing our hair (I wish!), reading the paper, etc. You don't have to zoom in close (although that solves any shyness of the subject) but the hands should be a part of the action. Here are a few samples. The baby is blind and using her hand to "see" her mother's face. The actor, in the role of Shakespeare's greedy "Merchant of Venice," uses his grasping hands to emphasize his persona. The flirty lady on the French Riviera uses her hands to enhance the self-confidence she wants to impress her audience with. So let's go, Hoggers - all hands on deck!
