It's a Great camera..... At the time I upgraded from the D7000. I even bought a used one and because Nikon offered to fix All the D600's for free I sent mine in. At the time it had No Issues with oil on the sensor and they still replaced the shutter for Free even though I was not the original owner. It was my introduction to full frame cameras and has served me Very Well. I Used it for macro, wildlife and landscape photography. I have now upgraded to the D850.

I have been using mine since 2013. It's a wonderful camera with great IQ and it still has one of the best DRs. If you do your job it will deliver amazing photos. And no oil problems.

I opted for the D610 but kepy my D7100... the 600/610 takes much better low light / wide angle shots, but it cannot beat the D7100 for shooting wildlife and birds with a long lens. A consideration for you if you can keep both. Enjoy the new gear!

I love mine and it has performed great for me . I would upgrade to it if you can. There is a nice advantage to a full frame compared to a cropped lens. Good luck

I would make sure the shutter has been replaced. Personally, I would not buy a D600. Nikon even offered those who had one a free D610. So, there is a good chance you'll get one of those trade in jobs. I would stay away from any D600. My two cents.

Ditto. I have a D850 and D600. While there are more bells and whistles on the D850, the D600 provides pretty much the same quality photos. Never had an oil problem.

I upgraded from my D80 to my D610 in August 2014 and bought an AF 24-70 f2.8 from a fellow hogger. I have tried other cameras over the years, but have not found one that works better for me that were worth the extra cost. I had Authorized Photo Service in Chicago give it a ‘tune-up’ last summer and it works like new. I do not see any need to upgrade because Nikon still makes the D610 and it is a great camera.

No regrets. It's a very good FX camera.

I bought a Nikon refurb. It only had 12 shutter actuations on it. I also kept my D7100 to use for macro & tele shooting. That said, I still have my D300 (wouldn't bring much on the used market anyway). Plus I still have my Oly Pen EP-3 & OMD-EM-10 ( both a bit older)

The D600 had problems with oil leaking onto the sensor so they came out with the D610 which corrected the problem which I have . Do not buy the D600.

You are talking about two different cameras. The D7100 as you know is a cropped sensor. It has lenses made for that specific format like the D600 has specific lenses made for it. If you now own DX lenses only it will be necessary to buy lenses to fit the FX format which implies a considerable amount of money. If you shoot action and wildlife I am going to say you should do better with the D7100 because of the "digital factor." Makes no sense to buy a FX camera to use DX lenses.
The D600 had its issues but Nikon repaired the cameras at fault and the D610 is exactly the same camera but with a new shutter. If the camera you are buying has the new shutter you should be OK and if money is no problem I would keep the D7100.

If you have or can afford the FX lenses it should be a great experience (hopefully they give a warranty of at least 6 months), if you only have DX, you will need at least one FX lens to realize the potential. You can shoot the DX lenses, but vignetting my be in your face, and while the DX line of lenses are good, the FX are generally better/faster besides larger image. My $.02, good luck with the upgrade.

D600/610 are great cameras. As far as FX lenses are concerned you can shoot manual using Ai lenses for a fraction of the price of "new" lenses. You will make great images using vintage glass. If you can keep your D7100 for telephoto work that would be a bonus. Just ask them about the shutter (as you already know). Have fun.
