Benro Mach 3 Tripod Q's

Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about the Benro Mach 3 tripod range ?

I need something that will hold up a Nikon P1000 without shaking.

I just purchased the Benro geard head and I need a sturdy tripod that won't break the bank.

From what I can see, they have different models in this Mach 3 range. I'd hate to get another toothpick like the Befree tripod I bought.

The particular model I'm looking at is the Mach 3 TMA28A. I don't need the carbon version as I'm only using it out of my car or in my backyard.

I don't plan on any major cross country hikes that need serious weight reduction. Although lightweight would be good, but I realise I need stability above all.

Thanks

Paul :)

Recently bought one and it's a Beast....35 ld rated. I love it and it quite tall with a wide base and comes with all the tools & a second (shorter) center replacement riser and metal points for the feet if needed.
The legs are 3 sections and not 5 like the toothpicks usually are. 1 1/2" diameter also (BEEFY)
I use it with my Gimabl and Large lenses.....go for it .

It was not expensive as well which really sold me cause I'm poor after all the cameras & lenses I bought.

Hope this was helpful.

The Rule of Tripods: You want one that is Sturdy, Light, and Inexpensive but you can only pick two.

The other rule of tripods is that you need three or more. You need one that is big, heavy and brick like. You need a light one for travel and fits in carry on. And you probably need some sort of table top version. I have five, including one suited for a small camcorder.

I purchased the Mach 3 .. TMA37AL....35.2 ld/rated , 70.47" max height , 26.77" folded/max length and it weighs-in @ 5.2 lbs. and like I said earlier , has 1 1/2" dia. Legs but only 3 section/leg instead of the 5.

It's a BEAST $185.00 from Adorama.....a bargin!

I also carry several tripods. On for each type of camera set-up I am going to be needing for any given instance. I sometimes videotape the shooting sessions for historical purposes later on and it adds a nice touch to the collection when editing the film with stills as well......makes for a better storyline and the human interest seems to excel when I add these extras to the mix. Hope this is helpful to anyone trying to decide which discipline they prefer.....????

I can't comment specifically on that model Benro. But my "big, heavy, and brick like" tripod is a Gitzo and my travel tripod is a Benro. It appears to me that they are very similar in build quality and the Benro works very well and is quite a bargain.

Both myself and my Wife have the Mach3, I found the model numbers and variations quite confusing, but my wife has the carbon fiber TMA28C, I ha e the TMA38CL.
Without doubt one of the best value for money tripods around. Looked at the 3legged thing (Sorry, but very poor compared to the Mach3). I would personally highly recommend this tripod.

Thanks Pedro,

I have found both a TMA28AL & the TMA37AL. I can't find a 38AL though the 37 looks like it's similar.

A great price too.

I've ordered it.

Cheers

Paul :)

If you go to the B&H web site and look up your tripod, it will give you the specs. you need. Yes, it is that easy. I own this tripod and I am very happy.
Benro makes a full line of great tripods. Look at these

The Benro tripod may be overkill for the P1000 as it only weighs a little over 3 lbs. The Slik Pro 700DX may be enough and save you $85. Here's a comparison of the two.

I would think so......Cambo Master= 4x5 lge frmt camera....under 5 lbs. I believe.

The tripod is rated to 35.2 lbs. of loading and is Sand Bag compatable
as well. It should not be an issue. I also have a dolly that goes beneath it for moving video shooting and it is quite sturdy.
