A thank you to all who gave suggestions to my shutter release post. I believe that my issue is solved. The problem is operator error due to the lack of experience w digital equipment. Again thank you all.

We all (at one time or another) have enjoyed our great capacity & capability for "operator errors", laspes in continuity, and other incidental failures, you have much company in this realm. For each of us, it is always reasuring to know we aren't the only one who makes the occasional "boo boo" !!!! It helps to have the ability to laugh at one's self when these things happen....
The great thing is you recognized your issue and it didn't cost anything other than a littlle time and energy......
For those of you who are perfect, ignore my message.. . . . ..

So, you probably had a setting that wouldn't allow the shutter to click unless you achieved focus. Huh?
Unfortunately I missed your original post, however referring to 'operator error', I'm the ultimate definition~~~

It's how we keep our skills up, right?
Not very many members ever reply by saying "Thank you!" for your help and letting us know what solved the problem. Was it the green "light" in the view finder that wasn't coming on (blinking) while you were pressing the shutter switch?
I had the shutter release set to focus and once I changed it, now it fires. I really need to learn this camera. I'm not a digital kind of guy to begin with so the learning curve is going to be a long process. Thanks Marty
