Sun & Moon Side-by-Side

With inability to drive any longer, I am severly limited in photo ops. I just don't like having to impose on others, even family and close friends. Consequently, I have to take what is available to me in close porximity to my residence. Couple of those are the sun and moon.

I was playing around yesterday with the solar filter I used for the solar eclipse a while back, and took couple shots of the sun. Please note the spot in the lower right quad. And with clear skies yesterday afternoon and evening, into early morning hours, the moon was just sitting there, beconing me to take a few.

I created this little mosaic to show the various phases/positions durning the night. I enjoyecd playing with this and hope you like what I have created.

Dean, with even a small telescope the Moon can offer you almost endless variety. I imagine you know that its surface appearance changes from hour to hour and night to night. The named craters are a review of the history of human culture. The shadows, valleys, ridges, mountains and other features a delight. Light pollution is rarely a problem with the Moon, and its changes always a fascination. Its seemingly slow motion through the stars offers endless variety and unimaginable beauty. -Ed

Thanks Ed. Will pass on the telescope. My vision is a severe challenge, and small dials and print drive me up the wall. I can handle my cameras and lens, but just don’t want to fiddle with new stuff.

If I was in the area I would love to have you along on photo trips. There must be some photographers in the area, maybe even UHH members, who would be happy to make an occasional road trip with you.

Would surely like to spend time in your area. Have only visited in your state once, loved it. Thanks Stan.
