Hi
Can anyone advise on focus bracketing with the Canon RP with following 2 macro lens. Neither are listed on the Canon website in the group of "official supported by focus bracketing":

Canon 100mm f2.8 usm - non IS version
Tamron 180mm f3.5 AF macro lens

Appreciate user experience / advise on above or any other lens not considered officially compatible. Mainly, does it work.

Why would Canon lie in conjunction with their own product?
Tell you what, rent both lenses and an RP and try them out (at your own risk).

If your lens is not supported for auto focus bracketing, it is quite easy to do it via manual focus. What I do is position the lens on the subject, manually focus then pull the focus point out, take a shot, refoucs on the subject, take the shot, then focus behind the subject and take the shot.

If you have a capable editing program, like Photoshop, open each of the 3 images in its own layer and do Edit/Auto-Blend with Focus Stack selected to merge.

Which lenses does Canon support for focus stacking?

To clarify, I have both lens listed. On the Canon site they list several lens as "officially supported by focus bracketing" but neither of these lens I have are listed. The Canon 100mm IS macro version (I don't have) is listed but not the 100mm non-IS macro (which I have). They also mention they can't guarantee 3rd party lens work with focus bracketing on the RP.

In the short amount of time since Canon RP release date, curious if anyone has used focus bracketing with one of these (non listed) lens and the results.

Just try it if you have the gear or call and consult with Canon directly would be best most likely.

I found I needed a moveable track between my tripod and camera to get the best focusing. I focus with the camera MANUALY and fine tune by moving the camera on the track. Tracks are inexpensive. Got a 2nd one in Febury on line for $25.00 (told my friends and 4 more went).

Go to Yahoo and lookup "focus bracketing with Canon RP" for results. BTW the P in RP stands for
"photograph."

GBL, have you watched the short RP In a Snap video on focus bracketing on Youtube? It helped me understand how to use focus bracketing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EClL9SDY-k

I just found out about this feature and used my Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens (not L lens) and it worked great!

Thank you donnajdean, the confirmation that I was looking for............ that the Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens (not L lens) works with Canon RP focus bracketing.

Any macro / close up advise with the Canon RP compared to APS-C?
