Ever hear of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

An interesting Read.

Seems to apply to a number of politicians.

Nothing new there. Akin to the old adage:

1. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”
― Plato

or

2. An empty wagon makes a lot of noise.

And, may be to some degree to the Peter Principle and/or Dilbert Principle.

Of course its not newly discovered...its been with us since the first upright walking creature banged on its chest.

I think it applies to everyone in some respect. We all have competencies and non-competencies and at times are incapable of seeing the latter.

You have to take into account personality too...shy retiring people often underestimate their abilities. We all like to 'bluff' our abilities - some more than others.

If you think you may be afflicted with this syndrome you probably are not. OTH if you believe it doesn't apply to you, you definitely have fallen victim to it. Inability to recognize is what its all about.

Our old folks would always say "A busy stream is shallow, still water runs deep" and that "The broken wheel creates the most noise".

My take on these... Art critiques LOL
