Lester Dine is a medical dental photography business. Been around years. Excellent products flash camera systems. I think this might even be a tameron film camera and for my use is excellent.

Thanks, Sid … if I were in the market for such a device - that'd be good to know …

But, once again - Lester Dine doesn't actually MODIFY the Tamron 90mm Macro - right?

He just makes add-on ring flashes for the Tamron lenses - is that correct?

Oh, thanks, Richard …

I see it's only for MFT bodies, though … shame!!!!

As a std. 11-19 lens (assuming it'd been made for APS-C) that'd be quite innovative: a UWA-Z w/Macro!

But on a Panasonic or Olympus 4/3rds body - you're looking at 22-38mm ... not quite so innovative.

Still - considering it's an infinitely-variable 1:1 to 5:1 Macro PLUS Zoom - still - very interesting ....

Almost makes you want to switch formats, huh?

No.

That's 4:1 to 5:1 and can be used on other bodies beside M4/3 bodies.

Oh, I see … not a true macro, then, Richard - if it can't do 1:1 …

Yes, well - my Siggie 70-300 APO Macro does 5:1 at 200mm, and 4:1 at 300mm - so, looks like I'm all set!!!

There was a picture posted of that familiar gold box, with the D760 legend on it, around Christmastime, Bert. … I suspect you'd be better off with the Tamron 90 VC USD … seems to have a lot more going for it, than the Nikkor 105 Micro. But, by all means - attend the Tamron seminar. Let me know how it turned out - okay? … I had the D90 for a while, too. It has the largest, brightest VF, I've ever used, Bert … niiiice!!! … Now, I have both the D7000 (which I prefer for close-up Macros, with the Tokina 35 Pro DX Macro - no longer made, unfortunately) and the D7100 … upon which I usually use the AF-S 16-85 VR … I suspect the Tamron 90 VC USD Macro will quick focus in low light with any camera, to which you might attach it, Bert.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your elaborate feed back. The purchase will depend on what Nikon does with it's next generation of D750. I might get Tamron 90mm or something that goes well with the next generation.

I feel a bit handicapped in low light with d90 and I know I need to upgrade but I am I towards a full frame.

Thank you again for your feedback.

The longer lenses give you a greater working distance(so your shadow is not on the subject). But you give up some depth of field with the longer focal length. I use both a 60mm and a 105mm micro nikkor.

Me too.
I use the 60 for its wider angle of view and the 105 for distance.

Totally incorrect!
It does more than 1;1

Think about it re your Sigma lens (you have the numbers given the wrong way around).

Get the best macro you can afford. The newer Tamron's are very good. I have the 90mm.
The side benefit of a good macro is, you end up with a terrific prime lens to boot. They are usually very sharp, which makes sense.

Hi, again, Bert … the Tammy 90mm VC USD would be a fine addition to any camera - be it APS-C/DX or FF. Nikon has a very fine FX camera, right now, in the D610 - which is going to be abandoned, shortly - so, you might find some really good deals on it, in the very near future. Other than that, good low-light Nikon bodies already are out there - in the D3s and D4 … both supposed to be very good for low-light. Of course - you might only be able to get those now on the used market - but, you never know - Google it!

Some have also said the Df is very good in low light, but, it's only a stills camera. A bit pricey, tho', Bert.

Oh, I agree with you, Canisdirus … Tamron makes some excellent Macro Lenses. I have the 60mm f2 - which is an excellent nifty-fifty … and a speed demon to boot!!!!

But, Sigma's offerings are pretty damned good, too … they have the 70, 105, 150, 180 - ALL at f2.8!!!

Macros are an excellent addition to ANY kit - as - as you say - they're ALL pretty sharp …

Is it really necessary for us to buy one in each range? Or, are just one or two suitable for most things? If you use them - please advise as to which length is better suited for YOUR purposes, and why you chose it.

Not sure if the old 55mm micro Nikkor has been mentioned.
Too many posts for time.
If you have Nikon or Canon this lens is wonderful to use.
Flat field and sharp and relatively inexpensive.

Too bad you can't use Minolta lenses. Their 100mm macro is still one of the sharpest ever made.
I can, but bought the Tam 90mm instead. I still am looking for a good copy, then will sell the Tam.
