Sylvia; I have a picture somewhere of an Adobe style country house with ivy growing on the walls from England. Of course that was the fifties and such buildings now are probably rare to find. Pen pals were the fifty's version of Facebook friends and it was quite popular in the British realm. Even in such far flung places as Oz and Rhodesia. Well that is what it was called back then.

I had a pen pal who lived in New Zealand and the family came to the UK for a visit, it was lovely to meet her after sending letters.
