Finally go around to cleaning the sensor in my Nikon D7100. Not particularly hard after getting over the anxiety of putting a swab on the sensor.

With all of that said, what kinda of swabs do you guys use and where to get them. The kit I have was Dust Patrol with swabs, fluid, brush and some other things. Watched the video a couple times which had a bit on what to look for in a swab. Of course they are going to say theirs are the best because of the way they made them

I can't even calculate the markup on these swabs. It's huge !!!

Truth or hype.

I've used Dust-Aid succesfully.

Good article on cleaning lenses here:
https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2017/04/guide-to-cleaning-your-camera-sensor/
or Lensrental video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRW9AmDPqr0&t=25s

Since Lensrental probably cleans more sensors than anybody else, I would tend to trust them.

I have used swabs and solution from Delkin for over 8 years now, I have cleaned thousands of sensors with them in my store, including regularly cleaning my own the same way. Great prices too!

I bought the Poseidon kit. Only used it the once, but it worked a treat. Will not hesitate to use again on any of my four DSLR cameras. Bought on the internet (Ebay? Amazon?)

If your happy use what you have. Just don't CHEAP out on the replacement swabs.

I just bought aa Delkin Kit (Sensor Scope) for my FF cameras, It is a complete kit for all dslr,s not cheap but works very well, I did find the scope to be almost useless due to reflections from the built in led lights on the sensor.Maybe it's me but, i used an old 10X loupe with a small flash light.

I also use VSGO Full Frame Sensor Cleaning kit; I get it from Amazon. I recommend the Tony Northrup video clip on how to use it as well.

I use a jet blower first and also use a loop to check out the sensor for dust or whatever. If still dirty I use a gel stick (made in Germany) cost around $50.00. It works for me so I am happy with it. I used the wet system once and had to go to a pro to have it cleaned.
Good luck however you go and don't be in a rush, take your time and good luck.

I had just the opposite happen, used a gel stick (made in Germany) and had to have it cleaned professionally. I now use MXD-100 Green sensor cleaning Vswabs. I buy swabs for both FF and Canon crop, 12 per pack from B & H. Their fluid VDust Plus 8 ml. is overpriced and leaves streaks. I much prefer Eclipse but that you would have to order from Amazon because B&H can not ship it due to laws in NY state.

http://www.photosol.com — the stuff I use

http://www.CleaningDigitalCameras.com — the mother lode of information about sensor cleaning

Clean room manufacturing is expensive, but inexpensive compared to sensor damage.

the sad thing , is that 99% of the time a vacuum cleaner will remove the dust on sensor and inside cavity / mirror .never had to touch sensor [ older cameras ] my lenses come in and out daily outside .

I guess works for one and not the other. Go with whatever works for you.
