Hi UHH members,

My camera memory card is full and I was wondering what method anyone is using for filing and storage.

At the moment I am just storing it in an old lens filter container.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thanks 😀😀

I download my card(s) to the drives for storage. Then reuse the card(s).
I am not sure why you would not want to download the files then reuse the card(s).
After downloading the files to the drives I format the card in my camera so it is ready to use again.

Architect1776,

Thank you for your reply. Great idea. Saves money and you know the card is good.

Exactly.
That is what most here do.

Amazing, the questions people ask.

Well if they don't know the answer isn't this the place to ask? Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you seem to think you are.

No need for sarcasm; that question did seem to come from way out on left field.

I download the images after each shoot. When they are backed up, I erase the card, and of course re-use it.
I have 8 cards in a waterproof card wallet, plus one in the camera, which I switch out as needed.
Filing them on the hard drive is different and up to the volition of each user for their method.

Almost as amazing as some of the ridiculous, useless and thoughtless replies they generate.

Really? Care to explain that odd and condescending assumption? Not everyone is at the same level on every topic, even basic ones. If we were, then no question would ever be asked.

Don't depend on the memory card for long term storage of your photos. Consensus I have been able to find is that after 5 years, you may not be able to read the data, or at least not all of it.
The card will last much longer if used, but the memory cell voltages drop over time and the stored data becomes corrupted. Back up externally; reformat and shoot again.

I agree. Download to your drives.

I back up every thing to an external hard drive as well as Carbonite. And format. As I am not a pro, I never fill up a card in one shoot anyway.
