The photo is fine as is. Linda, however, made a nice suggestion. You may also be able to make a pseudo HDR. In lightroom, or similar program, make tif images at various adjusted exposures. Combine with HDR software. With care this can be realistic.

Click on link below- the preview in this forum is notoriously inaccurate.

The moon itself isn't the problem... you could drop in the other moon and in fact perhaps another might even be better that shows the moonscape... but you will be just be barely using it. It is the glow in the clouds that will be the problem if you simply drop in any other moon. Perhaps if you are very subtle, and just go barely for the hint/rim/detail of it... the attached is a rough idea of what I am talking about. You are going for " nobody notices I did anything" And id not be scared of the contrast. YOu have beautiful dense image with beautiful wam highlings and reflections- bring em out! And some of the lower clouds are very interesting whisps.

I like the photo as is. I think it can be enhanced a subtle touch to improve it. IMHO.

(Man for some reason- the attached is way darker than on my MAC monitor once it uploads and i load it in my browser... - but i have to get back to work. LOL anyways, you get the idea- i did use the separate moon you sent... but i might prefer another. So anyways- this doesn't represent a final version- just an idea of a direction. )

I shot this as a full moon was rising in a thin cloud cover. I realize the moon is blown out and I unfortunately did not take a good enough second exposure for just the moon. Is there a way to salvage this photo? What suggestions or advice on post processing this image. The drama of the texture in the clouds would be really nice to retain. I have LR Classic, PS and Nik Collection to work with. Thanks!!!

I like yours the best, as is!
