this image is what comes out of the camera after desqueezing in photoshop.Anamorphic lens increases the field of view .I like the ability
to change formats with the addition of a lens. Also I shot this with a Takumar 55mm f2.0 lens and an anamorphic sancor 16c 2x .Never posted anything before hope this works.Could not get the tiff. file to load so this is a large jpeg.
sancor 16 c as in front of a takumar 55mm f2.0 taking lens.
the lens compresses the image on the sensor and photoshop stretches it out to look normal. my lens is a sankor 2x anamorphic there are different degrees of stretch. this lens doubles the field of view while maintaining the compression of the taking lens.ie 100mm lens depth of field with a field of view of a 50 mm len
I think the first time a lens like this was used was during ww1.they developed it for the periscopes in tanks so the crews vision was improved.
i took this with a 55mm takumar f2.0 and a sankor 16c 2x anamorphic lens. this doubles the field of view and maintains the compression of the taking lens in this case a 55mm .
you are correct and having a new format without buying a whole new system is interesting. Also by doubling the field of view of the taking lens while keeping the same depth of field changes the perception of the image. Just another way to look at the world around us.
Maybe they should only shoot in black and white. The more artistic choice one has the greater the chance of success.
Optically sucks. Cylindrical elements
induce serious astigmatism. Forget it.
The astigmatism in the highlights is part of what I like. The flaring and oval boca is what I like. I do not believe every image has to be a true representation of what the eye sees. I know it is not perfect but This is a first attempt. Do not let my attempt close your mind to a new way of looking at the world. Thanks for your critique I hope my future attempt will change your mind. Mark
