SOLD a high speed, highly reliable 1TB (1000GB) external hard drive.
Was used once a month since late 2017 to backup scanned data from our server - very low usage.
I have had several inquiries and commitments to purchase, but still available. Price may have been a few bucks high and I am just looking to pass along to someone who will use it (see below).
This is a summary and update of conversations.
In reply to “does it work” questions, it was tested by:
• Copying/moving a few files and folders to/from drive – no problems
• Comparing copies – no problems
• Formatting the drive
• Running Windows disk analysis program – no issues, no bad areas
• Again copying/moving files and folders to/from drive – no problems
• Deleting all files
• Formatting the drive with Name Maxtor 1 TB
Everything went well, no issues and ready to use.
The drive is just like any other attached storage device: flash drive, SD card, card reader, internal drive, etc. It connects via USB to your Windows machine and appears with a drive name - most likely D, E or F, depending how many other storage devices or cards you have attached. At that point you can create folders on the drive just like your C drive and drag and drop, copy or move files or folders from other drives or an attached camera. It is plug and play like anything else you would attach to your computer. All in all, very simple and easy! I am less familiar with terms, but functionality is same on a Mac.
Seagate/Maxtor provides software, which you can download free, to backup your entire computer to this drive. I have tried it , but find it cumbersome. Windows also has a backup facility or you can just use the simple move/copy functionality noted above.
Cut and paste this link to Seagate support for the manual applicable to your hardware (Mac or Windows):
