Reinstall ink carts. Maybe a bad contact or 2.

Sounds like a clogged print head. They will clog easily if you only print sporadically.

Try this:

Go to the menu on your printer and find the choice called either Tools or Setup. Move down the choices in this section. You will generally find the options to clean your print heads. You may have to run it 2 - 3 times to clear up heads that are seriously clogged.

Good luck.

Ah.... It was determined years ago when I worked at the now defunk Computer City, that printers work on black magic.
When they don't work, its white magic cause you can't see anything on white paper!
Give it a good cleaning. Maybe more than once.

Use the printer test and head cleaning and alignment features built into the printer driver’s utilities.

Head cleaning uses ink, so have spare cartridges available.

Put in fresh cartridges and see what happens.

Unless you just want to waste money, don't start here. Take Bill's advice and start with head cleaning, probably multiple times. Best of luck.

This is sage advice. Many times new cartridges don’t always fix the issue. I have two Brother printers and a Canon printer with the same type of issues. Ran the cleaning routine to no avail. Some printers also have a secondary deep clean function that uses even more ink. If the cleaning doesn’t help, new print heads are in order. Cheaper to just get a new printer if it’s a lower end model.

My current printer is an Epson & I used to have a more upscale Epson Photo printer. Went to change the inks on that older printer and it told me to use genuine Epson cartridges. Thing was, the cartridges were OEM Epson cartridges. Anymore, I use a lab to print my prints. I only use my printer for basic functions

The main problem with ink jet printers is. Use them or loose them! If you are a basic print user you should test print your printer once a week to keep things in order
