I wasn't sure. I was trying to inform a newer person that this IS the correct area at least now. I know some threads are started in the neutral area, sometimes because we, the members get so uppity that admin feels it should be in the Attic section.

No reason to be insulting. I am not a grumpy old man at all. I just think you should refrain from making statements about veterans that are not necessarily true. Each veteran is an individual person and all have experienced things that may or may not have affected other veterans, even someone that veteran served side by side with. Saying you cannot lead a horse to water seems ingenuous to me and I think our veterans deserve better.

The article that you cite is disingenuous at best and at worst an out and out lie.

It is true that i******s are not eligible for snap benefits for themselves. However, and this is a big however, the state agencies that distribute that aid do not check to see if the children of an illegal are also illegal or not and they freely distribute snap benefits for the children regardless of whether or not they were born in the U.S.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if an illegal gets snap benefits for their children the illegal is also eating the food.

My wife recently retired as a welfare fraud investigator and this was one of the major points of contention is the millions of dollars that i******s get for their children. She was responsible for investigating the largest known welfare fraud case in Oregon history.

What happened is a butcher shop was purchasing benefit cards from i******s at 50 percent of the value of benefits on the card and then using the cards to purchase goods that they resold in a convenience store adjacent to the butcher shop.

There were millions of dollars involved and it was almost all i******s.

This is just one example of an exception to what is in the article you cited. However, the bigger issue is that many states currently don't even require someone who applies for snap benefits to prove they are legal. All they ask for is income verification and since i******s are either being paid under the table or are using false identities when they case worker checks income verification there is no income showing so the benefits are issued.

There are countless other areas where i******s also get benefits. For example there are a fairly large number of illegal children attending school in the school district that we live in. They are all receiving a free education at taxpayer expense, so to try to claim that i******s don't get benefits is ridiculous.

Well, maybe your "experts" say a wall will help, but the great majority say it will not. The wall is Trump's signature trope; it is so racially prejudiced against Hispanics (Trump isn't harping on our other border) that the "base," eager for confirmation bias (of an absolutely false belief) may be beginning to use their brains for rational thought instead of blindly accepting wh**ever this pariah says. There may be hope.
