I would not take a unfamiliar camera with you on your trip. Your 5600 should be fine. I don't know what lenses you have but for my D7200 my Nikon 16-80mm covers most of my travel needs. I have a Tamron 10-24 which is handy for wide angle situations. Lenses like the Nikon 16-85mm, 18-55, and 18-140mm might also be nice candidates. Think about what you want to photograph.

I also have a Pen F which is nice and small. I would travel easily with my Panasonic 12-60mm and Olympus 40-150mm. If you use an Olympus or other unfamiliar camera you will need time to understand the camera and its functions.

Take your camera and your best general purpose lens. Three reasons, cost (you already own it), familiarity (supposedly you know how to work it) and concentration (you adapt your vision to what you can perform). It's no wonder that some really great photographers only used a 50mm lens.

I've gone to the same places, and if you want great pictures, take your D5600. I took my D5300 with a Nikon 18-140. Figure which lens you have that will work for your type of picture taking. You don't have to haul around three lenses. Good luck and have fun.

This summer I'm going on a 2-week tour of Ireland and Scotland. Space and weight are at a premium and I'm reluctant to take my D5600 and three lenses. Any suggestions on what small bridge camera I could rent and from whom ? Thanks for the help - I'm an experienced beginner !

I did much the same trip/cruise a few years back with a Sony RX10 III; worked wonderfully. I now have a Sony RX10 IV and use the III as backup. Both would fit the bill just fine.

No,no,no. Don't buy or rent something else. Take your great camera and two of your lenses. The first thing you pick up in the morning is your camera and one lens. Put it around your neck. Now you're set for the day. Everything else is extra. I have a very small bag, looks like a man purse. It only fits my 7500 with my 18-300. When i don't need the camera (when it's pouring or I'm eating lunch), I put it in the bag. Makes it unabtrusive and gives it a little protection. I hate hearing people in this forum looking for a dinky replacement for their camera just when they are going to scenic places with unlimited photo opportunities.
So, camera first and always. Everything else if there is room.

I also agree that do not purchase a new camera! Take what you know, with a general lens-I have an 18-300 that I've called my vacation lens, as it fits everything but low light situations. Others have already mentioned the electrical difference, so a converter and different plugs are critical. have a great trip!

Someone suggested a six outlet bar. Great idea. Always carry one. You will need an adapter plug but not a converter. Everything is dual voltage these days.

Your D5600 and the 18-140 would be all I would need. Give it a try.......

I am sorry but this has always bin a pet peeve of mine. Why do people post where they are going and asking what camera should I bring? Are they going to-a planetary system that has a red sun instead of a yellow sun? Anywhere on earth that you live the camera will work in China,Rusia, France or North Carolina. It is true that there is such a thing as a dumb question.

The lightest is a new cell phone. When I got into digital I had a Nikon D 40 w/ Tamron 18-270 mm lens. Now I have a Nikon 7100 w/ Tamron 16-300 mm lens. This is my go to lens for everything. I do have other lens too for special purposes. I would take the 5600 and a zoom lens. I never considered a Cell phone to compete with a DSLR. By the way check out Kim Grant she lives in Scotland maybe she can give you some tips.

Most dumb questions receive good replies. The reason for my dumb question was to ask for the experience of others regarding the best equipment to carry to a certain locale over a 2-week span. Didn't mean to be a bother.

I have the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 has a 25-400mm Leica Lens and reticulating LCD screen. Orig. price was about $900....now on sale for about $500 or less. Has 24 meg Sensor, pop-up flash and good battery life. Check it out.
