Really lovely. Wish I had taken one like the first when I was there in 2005.

Thanks. I liked the pre dawn shots too. Just enough light creeping in.

I like every shot. Outstanding composition.

Nice thing about landscapes is you can take time and figure what you need. Then you race the sun a little.

Nice work on these.

Work and fun ! Getting there is the work - leave at 4:25 and the road is already full of sad faces.

Beautiful, it has been many years since I have seen the cherry blossoms in person

Thanks. It is hit or miss when they are in peak. Then one storm and "poof". Took one trip last year and never took the gear from the car it was so windy. That was a scheduled group shoot though - easier to pick a day based on the forecast.

Beautiful images. Makes me want to get off my butt and go down
there!

Thanks !! I kept finding reasons not to go and then said what the heck. Shot up there on 2 hours sleep and got a good calm morning. Almost went again this morning but it was already 5:19 and the traffic is too heavy to move by then. Twice a year the sunrise or moonrise lines up with all the monuments and for the last 5 trips it has been a strikeout with cloud cover. The monuments at night are special though - especially the World War II memorial with the lit fountains.

Brings back good memories. I lived in and loved that area back in Spring and Summer of 1946.

Wow! It may have changed a little since then but not the monuments or basin. They have added more - right near the shots is the FDR monument area.

Thanks for looking at them. It is a nice place out by the basin and the Potomac river on your back side.

Excellent series.

Thanks, the weather cooperated that morning. It looked a little iffy on the way up as I could see too much cloud cover in the dark. Had just enough - too clear is just as bad as too cloudy.

Took these yesterday at sunrise. The blossoms reportedly peaked on Monday. All are still on the trees and the weather is cool(ish). I know some hoggers were coming this way and the timing is good. Quite a few engagement/couples shoots being done once the sun was up.

Beautiful and excellent series!
