It was less than 200mm so I did not shake (too much). He was about 50 feet from me.
139mm, f/4, ISO 400, 1/320. BBF
Thanks for viewing.

Very nice, Mark. I'm still learning how to use the RX10-IV after dumping my 5D III and all the heavy glass. Sony menus are terrible so it's a long learning process, at least for me, but I think it will be worth it. I love the features and the 24-600 Zeiss glass, so I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before it all "sinks in."

Nice shot but I always want constructive criticism...a little noise/grainy ….I'm new at all of this and hope to learn on this forum

Hi Art. I agree, compared to my 5D MIII & 7D MII the Sony menu system "sucks"!! However, being relieved of lugging all the stuff for much of my photography, is a very nice trade - off and IQ is remarkable. 24 - 600 focal length is fabulous. I'm still learning too. I still have all my Canon equipment. Not ready to give it up. My younger Grandson (8th grade) is playing lacrosse this year. So, I'll be using the 24 fps and continuous mode to capture action shots.

I have found the Friedman book invaluable. If you do not have it, I highly recommend it. www.friedmanarchives.com/RX10-IV/index.htm

Thanks for the response. Good luck with the Sony. It does take time and effort to learn.

Hi, Mark.
Yes, I have the Friedman book too. At over 600 pages it's a monster too, but way more informative than the Sony on-line manual.
Thanks,

Art

Yes, it is a monster. I have not (yet) attempted reading it as a novel. I pick & choose my spots. I have also used YouTube. A few clear videos there. I also have the download.

Thank you. Indigenous species are sometimes disappointing. I understand missing them. For 13 years, we lived in southeast NC on a brackish water lake. Tons of wildlife including many shore birds and alligators. A wildlife paradise. Sure miss it. We vacation there two times a year.

Thanks for the response.

I lived nearly 15yrs near Savannah Ga. I don’t miss the spring yellow pollen scourge, flying cockroaches, gators, black widow spiders, all varieties of poisonous snakes, and all the heat and humidity. I think the problem many people have with Sony menu is that there are so many choices. I don’t have the RX series. But the a6000 and my other alpha cameras have a function button that you can place your most used items. I may have to trade off my HX400 for the RX. I’m liking the RX photos

No place is a panacea. There are many of those things I experienced in NC, I do not miss either, but mostly I forgot about them. When we do visit, we go in late spring and late fall.

The Sony is different and takes a while to become accustomed to the menu system. With only three weeks of ownership, I took it on a Danube River cruise. I was happy with results, even though I was quite the beginner with the system. I continue to learn.
Thanks for the response.

This fella is all "dressed up" for the ladies in the area. Great shot of a male all preened up for the spring mating season. Coming originally from Ohio, it too is one of my favorite birds. I love watching the male crack the sunflower seeds for his mate and gentle place the seed in her beak as a part of their mating ritual.
