how did they get the reputation of being an aphrodisiac ?

Is it because you have to be butch to eat them?

Eat a live snail ??!

Funny, but my son said the same thing a few days ago.

I wonder that about food in general. Some berries are delicious, and some are poisonous. Maybe early man used prisoners to test new foods. Starvation is a good incentive to try something new.

love good raw oysters... have eaten 3 doz. in one setting several times. usually with a touch of minuet sauce my wife makes. she loves them also. i use to eat raw eggs right out of the shell too. not so much now since we don't raise our own anymore.

I've wondered the same thing about olives. A fellow I know was walking with a friend and came past an olive tree with ripe black olives. He told the friend - "Your first ripe olive fresh off the tree will be a memorable experience." So of course the friend plucked an olive and stuck it in his mouth." A moment later he was spitting it out and glaring at his friend, who defended himself: "I said it would be a memorable experience. I did NOTsay it would be a good one."

We place the oysters on our grill and heat them until the shell pops open, then we put the meat of the oyster on a soda cracker and wash it down with a good beer. I agree with Bob, Dancers is missing out on some very good food.
