I have a 1.8, but I'd go for a 1.4 in a heartbeat! It's a great focal length.

Worried about getting used to manual focus...most say to shoot in live mode. Comments?

I gave up live mode when I got my DSLR. I shoot the way God intended, with a hunk of electronics pressed against my face as I peer through a little hole.

Manual focus is not so bad, from time to time.....

18 to go.....

Zeiss 35mm 1.4, yeah baby!!!

If you want smoking clear images with awesome detail and color then spend the money. It's manual focus but the trade off is worth it. For the most part if you have good light you don't have to worry too much. If you have the time and want to be real serious about a subject then you use LiveView to get fantastic pro pictures. That's it!

I have the SMC Takumar 1:1.4/50 made by Asahi. It is a super lens. You just about don't need light with it. It takes about $450.00 to get an equivlant lens. You can expect to pay upwards from $100.00 for a used one, if you can find one! Best lens I have! I also shoot in live mode with that lens.

I use the 55 F2 SMC Takumar - I think it is better than the 1.4 ! and I use it with the Canon 250D close-up for close work .... also cheaper than the 1.4 ....
