I saw an article yesterday with the winners of a drone photography contest and the photos are stunning! Check these out. Some of these photos wouldn't be possible without a drone (or maybe a helicopter). The top photo won the overall contest, the others won in other subcategories.

Thanks for sharing, amazing pictures.

I don't do drone photography, I would like to, but I am missing that small detail.......the drone :)

I want to do drone photography! I fear it is getting easier to buy a drone but harder to use it. Many of my favorite places ban them.

Never seen an image of Le Mont-Saint-Michel like that. My father had a bunch of black and white of it from when he was stationed over there in 1947-48 but this is spectacular. Love all the images actually. TFS

2 of the photos required a bit of post processing. Can you guys tell which 2?

Nice photos. I bought an inexpensive drone to learn how to fly it. Once I've mastered the one I currently have I'm planning on getting a much better one.

The contest was put on by DJI. If you know anything about drones then you know this company. The drones that took these photos run ~$1500

Yes I'm familiar with DJI. My current drone only cost a couple hundred dollars and since I got it to learn how to fly, I didn't get a camera for it. Tell me, are the more expensive drones easier to fly?

I don't really know. I know they have lots of features such as if they get out of range they will automatically return home. Plus you can program their path ahead of time and they will follow it on autopilot. I know the cheaper ones can be tough to control so I would hope the more expensive models would be easier. I got into RC Helicopters for a while and I know the more expensive models are a lot tougher to operate because they have so many more capabilities. I'm just not sure about drones, but I suspect they are much more complicated.

I've thought about trying a drone, but just my fortune, I would land( or crash it) in someone's backyard, and they would nail me for trespassing and/or privacy issues.
