Belts and the accessory.

I though I might write about a thing that is often over looked in the realms or the erotic work that I do and that is accessories. In the area of the accessory there is no better accessory than the useless accessory. The useless accessory is the absolute pinnacle of throwing something into the mix that will heighten and alter the possibilities. Among the accessory that holds a high place in the creation of good images is of course the belt.

To begin, men need belts, it is the vary height of what is useful. It is like a pocket on the shirt, it supplies such utilitarian needs that to find a shirt for a man with no pocket is paramount to absurd. A belt on the other hand is, well, an absolute necessity.

Without a belt men's trousers fall off, or rater down. So for the man his belt is an absolute necessity. The reality is, place a man in a pair of blue jeans and remove his belt and the result is that down come his jeans. The belt acts to keep the jeans up because he, the man has no real hips on which to hang the jeans. Then take the same jeans and place them on a woman and fasten the waist, no need to button or even zip them closed. Tug and pull as you might, the jeans stay up. Women have hips, men do not. Men need belts and women do not need belts.

It all sounds so trivial, this thing with belts; and yet it goes to the heart of that which is erotic charged in an image. The nude female figure is of course wonderful. Blah, blah, blah! I'm not at all interested in the nude female figure. They are right there, all around me, mostly draped with cloth and accessories to draw attention. So I look, I think, I observe what is there to be seen but with the mind not the eyes. Clothing covers, disguises, while accessories reveal, draw attention to the nature of the erotic of the body.

I choose belts and attend to there most uselessness that when allied to women. When belts meet women they often are conjoined to that of the utilitarian item, the pure accessory. Or at least how women use belts. When men come into the action then belts can become activated into anything but an accessory.

Devices of feminine simplicity into the tools of that activating the mind of the stalking male. There in the mind rests that libido. The naughty side of possibilities. The accessory leads us to new and active ground on which the libido is called up like the smacking of wet lips, the smoothing of a chafed flesh to call our brain into a steady state that the libido maps and directs the brain, into the mind of carnal possibilities. To think only in the realm of emotions. Where the falling away of logic, that area of the brain holds sway over knowledge and intellect, so that the dark eyed reptilian carnivore wishes to feast.

Belts, they are the active principle of jading emotions. Then given the right potential in the hands of the eroticist, the model becomes electrified with the carnal flow of that traveling desire thing cited as an emotional waste land. Seen in their eyes they receive approval and so with mirth they descend into the energy of the moment. The moment that has become known as The Decisive Moment. It flows, moves forward, it does not recover or move except forward, in to the future, the place of the little death. It is engraved on the photographer's lens that mythic form of a symbol of infinity. It is the place where the contact happens between the two realities flow. It is the contact of a double helix, it is a place of the spark.

Erotic is the spark of the contact between the two, common, opposite, the same and different. It matters not one damn iota. It is just that brief moment when the contact is made, once, a dozen dozenics, or infinity of and infinite universe. It is eros, it is life, it is the flowing sweep of the capture that the camera will make.

Then on into an infinite universe does it go.

The first few studio shots with the plain background don't live up to the prose you have written, but the others are better. I like the concept of multiple mirrors.

"I'm not at all interested in the nude female figure.”

Considering the photos you post, it's absolutely amazing that you have the unmitigated gall to make that statement.

I assume that you will probably lash into me for making the comment, but I’m pretty sure from some of the veiled comments that others have made that they are thinking along the same lines. I also find boring your dissertation-like explanations that supposedly teach us. Just post your nudies and move on, like the others who post here do.

Have at me; I don’t care. One more thing: don’t wave that MFA “terminal degree” because I don’t care about it, either.

I know, but you probably didn't get it when Man Ray stated "Photography is not art". It is the same thinking.

I couldn't agree more. I am interested in the female figure. However, your disgusting depictions don't interest me at all.

One of those people that just likes to hear himself talk (or see himself in print). Not impressed by the artistic or technical photographic ability.
