This is an interesting article, NY Times regarding the criminalization of photography, pretty good read.

Interesting post, Ed, Thanks.
Photojournalism, and journalism in general is evolving with the changing times. I notice our local media constantly soliciting photos and material from their readership and viewers. Cell phone pix are too often satisfactory, and we see a proliferation of typos in the texts.
What once was, may never be again. Let's find some encouragement in what IS.

It seems like our rights and freedoms are slowly being eroded in all aspects of life.

Very good, but who decided to use gray text on a black background? It's after 11:00, and I've been using my eyes all day! :D

Sometime the so called art directors need to really look at what they are trying to get us with old eyes to read.

I am tempted to make a statement about my feelings toward police, but it might be better if I don't. So for my own
peace I will remain silent. But for those who have more courage than I, Thank you.

Perhaps if your eyes are getting that old you should put your PC into high contrast mode :P

When I shut down the PC, I switch to my iPad. But still, gray text on a black background? As for getting old, my eyes are no older than I am. :D

Getting old isn't the problem.
Being old is.

Someone's got to hold up that wall. It looks like they're about ready to be relieved.

The militarization of the police, regardless of the excuses why, should greatly concerned everyone. Not only their gear, weaponry and tactics have become extremely aggressive, their attitudes seem to have followed suit as well. I have lost respect for cops to a large degree but I still show them an equal amount of respect to that which they give me. No more, no less. The trend is not good and unless there is some serious and aggressive push back on these aggressive thugs I fear what we will have in another 5 to 10 years.

I used to give them the benefit of the doubt but no longer. There are simply too many examples of their thuggery and total lack of respect for their bosses, that being us. It took a long time for me to arrive at my current position toward them and I fought it every step of the way but reality has to dictate our outlook otherwise we are simply ignoring dangers around us. I fear the cops far more than the common criminal. What a sad state of affairs when even one person has reasonably come to that conclusion.

As the saying goes, "Clothing makes the man." Getting decked out in heavy duty military gear and weapons has to have a psychological effect on them.

I don't think the "grumpy" episodes are limited to hot days.
