Beautiful! Your depth of field is super - those birds are sharp as a tack and look like they could jump off the page. Satisfying day, huh.

Barketh, it might be hard to top this session, but I will try

Crystal clear, brilliant colors, great composition, captured the bird's eyes and face perfectly. You made two beautiful exposures. What kind of bird is it, by the way?

Thank you so much for your wonderful evaluation! These are tree swallows.

Excellent shots Bernie. I too have been trying to get "THE" shot of a swallow. fullish me,I keep trying to shoot them in flight. Like trying to shoot mini fighter jets. I have had a couple of minor successes,But have yet to get that one "gotcha" shot. Love your stills. The place where I shoot doesn't allow me to get very close..They are just dive bombing around a small lake. Fun to watch though.

Hello papluv. I guess now, I will have to try and get one in flight, since you bought it up:) On this day, the wind was strong and I timed it when they landed to rest. I will let you know if I am successful. Thanks for the nice comment and for the visit!

I have been seriously in search of the best work I can produce, given the equipment I have and the time I am willing to put into the quest. I have been birding for less than two years and occasionally capture something that gives me confidence. I know many of you know what it feels like to get "that shot/s" and how it motivates. I am also motivated by my failures. Of the two, of course I would prefer the former. Yesterday, I went to my local meadow and was delighted to see the swallows. Since I did not shoot there last year, it was a pleasant surprise. I am still working with the invariant nature of my Nikon and judging from my understanding of what it can do for my style of shooting, I feel I am turning a page. I got "that shot." Please enjoy the downloads. It was an incredible day and I wanted to share it with you all!
