First to Linda: Thanks for taking over this forum.

Second: If you have a different way to accomplish the same result, please start your own thread or PM the OP and let her/him decide weather he wants to include the information or not. After all it's his thread.

The real reason I posted this is that it is difficult to track two methods at the same time when you don't know what you are doing.

Thanks very much for your thoughts, Jack. Generally, we share additional information related to the subject, or ask questions/provide feedback to the OP, but I can see the value in having a locked tutorial (no comments). Will definitely consider for future.

In this particular thread, FStop12's opening is a complete set of instructions, so you can work with that. I know information overload can be frustrating; I've been there many times!

Linda, if you lock the tutorial does it mean that no one can ask questions about the written tutorial?

That's correct; they'd have to send you a pm and then other folks would not benefit from those exchanges.

There is no need to lock this one, but Curmudgeon's point is worth considering for future, depending on several factors. Were you OK with folks offering their own tips or alternatives in this topic?

Well, I think that when people start offering other ways to do what a tutorial is listing I think it gets confusing to newbies. I don't mind people asking questions about the listed tutorial. It keeps the post clean and less distracting.

Excellent point. For whoever creates a tutorial in future, let's remember we need to make it clear in the opening whether alternative suggestions are appropriate. "Share threads" will state that participation is welcomed.

If there is a need to correct a point or make it clearer, a respondent could send a pm to the OP, and if the hour has passed for editing the opening, I can revise.

Good conversation, thanks!
