In the early 60’s I attended Boy Scout camp at Spirit Lake while my dad was stationed at Ft. Lewis. Some years later I summited it with my dad and a couple guys from 10th Mountain. Now it’s just a stump of what it was in those days. The lake was incredibly altered from its former state. At the time of the eruption it was believed the lake would be so toxic and with so little oxygen that it would never support life again. That proved incorrect. Thanks for stirring the memories.
