My wife and I visited the Hollywood Forever Cemetery today. We went because my grandfather, whom I never met because he passed away before I was born, is buried there. After I introduced myself and my wife to him, we toured the place and visited the final resting places of a few lesser-known individuals.

Interesting about Jayne Mansfield. She’s actually buried in Pen Argyl, PA. She was never buried in California.

They call hers a memorial. It's the least well maintained of all the markers.

They actually have hundreds. But many are in crypts and hard to locate, even with the map they provide.

Thanks. The markers and headstones bring back memories of a former era in American entertainment. Each of the individuals named had a distinct personality as an American in the spotlight. They contributed warmly to our popular culture.

Thank you very much for the tour. For those of us that may never have the opportunity to visit, this is a wonderful tour... Thank you for taking the time to introduce us to your grandfather and those who entertained us for generations.

Thank you for reminding me of how lovely and peaceful that place is. My long ago actress friend, Joan Hackett, is buried there. Her headstone says, in typical Joan fashion, "Go away. I'm sleeping."
