I know the skies have been terrible, but where did everyone go?

This isn’t a slam, I get the skies have been really bad, but it is nice having an occasional greeting. I’ve gotten a lot of support and knowledge from folks here, and I would hate to see that go away.

Although we don’t speak at a personal level, I do think we have a bond between us. I think just an occasional “hello, I’m still alive” is a great thing.

I hope you don’t find this a bad thing, I just want to try.....I don’t know

Haven't gone anywhere - still plugging along! Tonight for the first time in a while, both Stepping Beyond and myself (we are like neighbors about 50 miles apart) will have two days of clear skies. So......if I haven't forgotten what I have learned - I might have an image or two. I plan on imaging two different targets for both nights.

Greetings, I usually try to shoot star trails around the New Moon so I don't have to contend with moonlight and I get a little darker skies, New Moon is coming up April 6th, keeping my fingers crossed that we will have clear skies during that window of opportunity.

I am here, just without any photos that can compete with all of yours on this post. That said, I would like to ask a question for anyone out there who has a QHYCCD mini guide scope with a QHYCCD 5-LL C camera. I have been having problems with the QHY website to download the camera drivers. I want to use this with PHD2, but it just does not want to work. Any help here? RFB

Well , I've had 4 nights of pretty awesome sky and haven't been able to hit a lick . I see my target in both cameras and I be damned that Sgp won't run a sequence .{KICKING AND HOLLARING!} It's my own fault and since getting an Ha filter before Turkey day things have just gone wrong every night. Ed did get me going but, trying to get the Ha focused since then has been a pain. Sgp , wants to screw me up by switching back to lum to autofocus even after I change it in control panel . I have called and you haven't called back check your phone Brian. I pretty tired of Sgp not remembering my info and having to reinput camera and filter info is driving me crazy in the dark. So , how was your time out under the stars?

RFB , I use a Qhy5 llll M and in phd2 are you selecting "on camera" and did you download one of the files as a zip and run as an administrator. otherwise it just won't work. I saved the setup procedure just in case and I'm glad I did, I've had to download the driver again when I got my Asus i5.

I won’t be much help with auto focusing or SGP, I don’t use either. I plan to use SGP at some point for it’s plate solving abilities. I don’t have enough open sky to have much use for sequences. At most, I can get 2 hours a night on any one target. Typical California backyards, I have a view looking straight up.

Brian, I'm shooting in Taurus m81 and 82 and I'll get things going again. I just wanted to touch base and shoot the s--- , my guiding is getting so much better . I had it going on the best wave line and ended the night by kicking a tripod leg , knocking out the alignment and to top it off when I went to look in the finder knocked the guide camera and my night was over. It was a good night to EAA on the two targets. I'm now shooting 2 channels a night from my drive with car headlights and LED streetlights that they just changed. Zenith is the best for collecting data , my best subs are between 50 and zenith when I can get my equipment doing right instead of making me kick "DIRT".

I'll check the other computer to find the archived setup, it's not on this one.

What’s happening with your new project. The local observatory, is that still in the works?

Bill , I started with 6.2 when I 1st received the camera, it works with ascom 6.3 update , I had all kinds of trouble when I updated to 6.4. I went back to 6.3 and it works fine. Systems driver & native wdm high compatibility driver. Type: www.qhyccd.com /file/repository/driver/ qhy5 ll c "driver 151028zip". Then download ascom vol. 3 setup vol.3 zip Unzip both , Then R. click run as administrator on both . Then plug camera usb cable into computer and it should install. If not you forgot a step , it took me 2 times because I didn't follow the steps to the letter, do just as I have written and it'll be glorious ! QHY drivers are the most ANAL DRIVERS I've ever dealt with. I started with w8.1 then had to reinstall when I got the newer computer with w10 update and it works fine. Stepping Beyond
