Have recently purchased and started using the D850. Believe that it is the best overall camera to date but very technically challenging. This was further complicated by the lack of tutorials and misinformation on the few that I watched. I believe that there are some challenges unique to this camera and some from simply upgrading from the D7100. 1st photo is a meadowlark calling for a date.

It is a technically challenging camera. After more than 1 year I am convinced that there is not an image or a sequence that the D850 cannot take. I can screw up shots, and do, but the D850 is more than equal to the challenge.

Watch Tony Northrop's hour long D850 tutorial, will go through everything:

I didn't find it all that challenging. The first weekend I had it I spent doing test photos and analyzing the camera's capabilities. After that, it was take it on a road trip and use it. I really liked the results I got and posted them here a few weeks ago.
