Thanks for the info. On my crop frame camera the lens is ~90mm. If I go to 1/3 crop would be ~ 120mm. I haven't tried that yet. Shooting stinging insects, bees and such at this time of the season the additional stand off would provide a more warm, fuzzy feeling. Suggestions on the 1/3 crop idea or other comments gratefully appreciated.
REGARDLESS of the size of a camera format, your lens is ALWAYS 60mm. The different size sensors just record different fields of view, but the magnification and the Working Distance remain the same. Your lens on my full frame camera will result in the same magnification at the same Working Distance. The difference is that my larger sensor records a wider field of view.

90mm to 105mm is considered the standard focal lengths for field macro-photography. Longer focal lengths do give a bit more Working Distance, which is helpful with skittish insects. Shorter focal length lenses are best used in studio on a fixed stand.

Regardless of lens used or tubes added, my usual sop is to shoot a mm ruler. My T2I has a 22mm sensor+ - so if I get that in the frame, I think that is true 1:1. Is this fact? Quite simple, I think. No math.
