Chesapeake Bay Bridge looking west toward Annapolis Maryland.

Taken with a Minox 35GT during my film days.

Never saw it from this angle. Love it thank you for sharing.
Drove on it, sailed over the tunnel it.
I was stationed in Norfolk,VA and would travel to NJ.
Made for an expensive trip back then as an E-5 at $328.80 a month.
Was cheaper to go over the tunnel Uncle Sam paid for those trips. lol

I believe you’re thinking of the other bay bridge. This is well north of Norfolk at Annapolis. Spans Maryland’s eastern and western shores.

You are thinking of the bay bridge tunnel out of Norfolk.
This photo was taken from my boat after leaving Maryland Yacht Club off the Patapsco River,
which is only a half hour trip down the bay.Only had my boat in Norfolk once and
never took any pictures.

That's considered one of the scariest bridges in America. There are companies that will drive you across it. I've driven over both the Chesapeake Bay bridge at Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel near Norfolk. The one near Annapolis is scary because of its height.

Check out this video of people who are hiring the service to drive them across it.

The height never bothered me but the turn in the middle did, been doing that bridge for years back in 70's and now the last 10 years or so as our daughter lives just south of DC. Neat bridge, Nice shot!

Everyone is different in that regard I guess. The height and low guard rails kind of bothered me. I remember driving on the San Juan Skyway in Colorado. There are often high, steep drop-offs next to the road and no guard rails. They have few guard rails so that plow trucks can push snow over the edge in the winter. That was unnerving.

One day in May, they close the South span and have buses in Annapolis to carry you to the Kent Island end to start a walk across. We did it several times in the ‘80s. At some point, they began a festival at Sandy Point from which you can take a bus back to town. Great fun and a nice platform for some photos (which I have buried in albums somewhere).
