Quite a bit of work went into this final picture. I will now come clean. It is a composite. I started with the girls picture that I took a while back. I downloaded the hat from a free site and worked with it to get it to cover her eyes. Played with curves to get the hat to look as it belonged. Added an exposure layer and darkened it. Using its mask I painted with soft brush the light leaks, actually panted in the darker areas that created the brighter light leak look. Hope this helps with the process.

Thanks for the explanation Jim. I would not have guessed it was a composite! Great effort resulting in a standout, striking image...

Impact is impact. Now, having said that, if it was a landscape with critters or full moon, I'd want to know if was composite. Don't ask me why; it's a complicated reaction I still don't totally understand myself

Did some work using Portrait Pro to smooth her skin. I downloaded the hat from a free site and worked with it to get it to cover her eyes. Played with curves to get the hat to look as it belonged. No, it does not. As with film or music appreciation, at first a person notices the technique, often missing the expression. Eventually, or most of us here, as with practiced music listeners or film watchers, the technical aspects add to the pleasure of the work itself. Thanks for letting us in.

A very interesting pose and it’s no surprise that everyone is attracted to it Jim. The fact it’s a composite doesn’t detract at all from its power. I would remove the rather heavy thread of hair from her cheek.

Not at all less appealing.

First, I like it cropped. The chair, dress & shoes add nothing and cause the head to be much smaller. (IMO)

Second, After looking at eyes after eyes, it's nice to see someone's lips. (IMO) The fact that the hat was added doesn't matter at all.
