Some cameras (like my Sony) will automatically create a new directory when the number of shots rolls over from 999 to 1000, 1999 to 2000, etc.. You need to open both for the download.

Your camera will reduce each shot you take. All menus are not exactly the same, on where the remaining shots are shown. RAW files, of course, will have larger files than JPEG. I generally use 16gb and 32gb SD memory cards. I have never filled a 32gb SD memory card. Yet.

I've got 8 high speed 32 GB SD cards for my 80D and am concerned that won't be enough for 3 days at the sports car races now that I'm shooting RAW. I took about 11,000 photos in two days last August at the Rolex Historics at Laguna Seca, but I was only shooting JPEGs. I shot about 3,700 in 4 hours at the IndyCar test there two months ago. I shoot a lot in burst mode (7fps), so you can really burn through the memory cards. I like to use 32 GB cards, but I'm thinking I should get a couple of 64 GB cards for the races.

I have 64 and 128gb CFast cards and can get about 5,000 RAW files on the 128 with my 20mp camera body... you will have to determine but I would think about some 64gb cards...
