Don't know if its been posted before but here's the newest addition to Sony's Cybershot Cmaeras, the HX-99 pocket cameras at a great price point.

I have an HX50 and it is my in pocket goto camera. In the beginning, I was careful with it, now it is abused and is resilient and show no ill effect of just pitting in the pocket with loose change. I added a magnetic card stock and filter adapter [DIY] which allows 37mm filters. The HX series by Sony is great.

This looks like a winner as a really small back up camera, maybe they should use the Timex slogan...

As stated above, Sony's HX series are great. If you are considering making a purchase, please look at the HX80. Virtually the same tech specs. Same size. The HX99 brings GPS to the table. A number of vendors had the HX80 on sale for $318.00 recently.

Thanks Vaughn, looking for a small camera primarily for b/u and maybe wife's use

I wouldn't take it, if someone handed it to me for free! I would have no use for it!

I use my HX 80 as a fairly good quality carry with me all the time pocket camera. If the sun can hit the lens be prepared for sunspots. anything greater than 500 mm has too much camera shake (I have shaky hands) and the photos can seem overly post processed straight out of camera (Maybe due to tiny sensor?) It will never replace my DSLR's but that's not what I bought it for. I wanted a pocketable but respectable zoom range camera with fair to good optical characteristics. That's what I wanted and that's what I got. I'm happy with my purchase.
Here's a slightly cropped photo SOOC taken as I stepped out of our local restaurant last Sunday evening. UHH'ers have, at my request, critiqued the composition of the photo and the comments ranged widely without distinct consensus but no one commented about camera quality so the camera has passed that test. Apparently the weak link is found in the 12 inches directly behind the camera.

I have the HX80. It is a nice little, and I mean little, camera that has a bucket load of features. I especially like the Macro feature. The lens is world class Zeiss. The attached picture was taken with the lens a little less than 2 inches from the brush. For a pocket sized carry around camera it is, to me, a lot of bang for the buck.

I would like something like that but with a usable viewfinder.
