Never heard of a nutria so I looked it up. The pictures, showing large buck teeth, and then the description of being up to 20 lbs. would make me say, no, it's still a mountain beaver. I also saw it in dense brush and dead branches up high on a hillside.

I do not think that they have crossed the Columbia River yet. If it gets much warmer it will only be a matter of time.
