There's a good article with a dozen recommendations here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/buying-guide/travel-tripods

Of the ones listed there, the Benro Travel Angel models got my attention... for the price and features they include.

Check the working height of any tripod you consider, since you are concerned that the tripod be as compact as possible. Ideally, to be comfortable to use, a tripod needs to bring the viewfinder eyeport of your camera up level with your eyeline or maybe slightly higher. A t'pod that requires you to raise the center column all the time to achieve that will be considerably less stable.

In addition, beware of tripods with too many leg sections. More sections might allow a tripod to be more compact, but at the same time are likely to make it less stable because when a tripod has a lot of leg sections, the lowest sections have to be awfully spindly to fit inside the next one above. Also, a t'pod with a whole lot of sections is slower to set up.

Personally I mostly use tripods with 3-section legs, but have one that has 4-section... but it's an extra tall tripod, so I rarely have to extend the lowest sections of the legs at all. However, none of my tripods are particularly compact or light... certainly aren't "travel tripods" by any stretch of the imagination.
